LCQ15: Statistics on services of Hospital Authority
Following is a question by the Hon Lee Cheuk-yan and a written reply by the
Secretary for Health, Welfare and Food, Dr York Chow, in the Legislative Council
today (November 23):
Question :
Will the Government inform this Council whether it knows the following in the
past three years:
(a) the lower quartile, median and upper quartile of the waiting time, the
longest waiting time as well as the average unit cost for first consultation
appointments at specialist out-patient clinics under the Hospital Authority (HA)
as a whole and in each hospital cluster, broken down by various specialties; and
(b) the respective occupancy rates and lengths of stay of the patients concerned
for general beds and for beds of various specialties under HA as a whole and in
each hospital cluster, broken down by various specialties?
Reply :
Madam President,
(a) The lower quartile, median, upper quartile and the longest waiting time (in
weeks) for first appointment at Specialist Outpatient Clinics of the Hospital
Authority (HA), with a breakdown by specialty in each hospital cluster, and the
overall average cost per attendance in 2002-03, 2003-04 and 2004-05 are given in
the tables as shown in Annex I.
(b) The bed occupancy rate at HA hospitals with a breakdown by specialty in each
hospital cluster in 2002-03, 2003-04 and 2004-05 are given in the table as shown
in Annex II.
The average length of stay (in days) for discharged inpatients with a breakdown
by specialty in each hospital cluster in 2002-03, 2003-04 and 2004-05 are shown
in Annex III.
