The HKSAR Government works closely with the community to promote women’s well-being and status as well as to achieve gender equality. The HKSAR Government is committed to protecting the rights of women. The Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW) was extended to Hong Kong in 1996. Another milestone in Hong Kong women development is the establishment of the Women’s Commission in 2001 that aims to enable women to fully realize their due status, rights and opportunities in all aspects of life.

This video showcases the works and achievement of the HKSAR Government in areas such as education and training, economic participation, health, combating domestic violence, participation in power and decision-making, protection of rights and the Women’s Commission in accordance with the principle of the CEDAW.

The video also has a 15-min Complete version, and versions with Cantonese and Putonghua narration. Interested parties may call 2136 2738 or email women@hwfb.gov.hk for a copy of the DVD.
