Lady MacLehose holiday camp to end its isolation centre role

< Back

As Hong Kong has officially been removed from the list of areas with recent local transmission by the World Health Organisation (WHO) today (June 23), the MacLehose Holiday Village will cease to operate as an isolation centre.

The once designated isolation centre will be returned to Leisure and Cultural Services Department tomorrow to resume its role as a holiday camp, a Government spokesman said.

The camp was designated in April as one of the three isolation centres during the outbreak of severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) to accommodate people who had contacted with SARS patients. The other two centres were in Sai Kung and Lei Yue Mun.

During the outbreak, a total of 176 people from 70 households were relocated to Lady MacLehose Holiday Village for their isolation period, which normally was 10 days.

After the return of Lady MacLehose camp, all future camp confinees will be assigned to the Tai Mei Tuk Bungalows, the spokesman said.
