SHWF goes on official visit to Macao

The Secretary for Health, Welfare and Food, Dr Yeoh Eng-kiong, will lead a delegation to Macao tomorrow (August 21) afternoon at the invitation of the Macao Special Administrative Region Government.

Members of the delegation include the Director of Health, Dr Lam Ping-yan; and the Director (Professional Services and Public Affairs) of Hospital Authority, Dr Ko Wing-man.

"We would take this opportunity to share with our neighbour experience learned from the severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) epidemic and discuss ways to enhance our communication and collaboration in the control and prevention of infectious diseases," Dr Yeoh said.

Dr Yeoh will call on the Macao Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture, Dr Chui Sai-on, and hold discussion with the Director of the Macao Department of Health, Dr Koi Huok-ieng.

During his stay in Macao, Dr Yeoh will visit Centro Hospitalar Conde de Sao Januario, Fai Chi Kei Health Centre and new isolation facilities to better understand the general public health situation of Macao and its future plan to fight against SARS.

Dr Yeoh will return to Hong Kong on August 22.
