< Back

The Secretary for Health, Welfare and Food, Dr York Chow, began his two-day official visit to Sweden on May 18 (Stockholm time) learning from the Swedish experience in elderly care and care of patients suffering from old-age diseases.

In Stockholm, he met officials from the Ministry of Health and Social Affairs to establish network with the ministry and to learn from the Swedish experience in health and elderly care services delivery.

He visited a community-based primary health care facility, a group living home for people with dementia diseases and a home help service centre for the elderly, to gain first hand information on the services provided by these facilities and understand their role in the overall primary health care services in Sweden.

Dr Chow also had a business lunch with some 40 guests from the Swedish Government and business communities.

Dr Chow will visit the Swedish Handicap Institute and meet with the Swedish Minister for Health and Elderly Care, Ms Ylva Johansson, today (May 19, Stockholm time).
