In addition, there will also be an "Exhibition on the Achievements in Women Development in China in the Past Decade" to be held on August 30 to September 4, 2005. The HKSAR Government will take part in this exhibition to showcase the achievements made in Hong Kong with the joint efforts of all sectors. The Government has in parallel published "The Second Report of the Government of the HKSAR on the Implementation of the Beijing Platform for Action" to report on the progress made by the Government in detail.

In September 1995, the United Nations convened in Beijing the "Fourth World Conference on Women: Action for Equality, Development and Peace", during which the "Beijing Declaration" and "Beijing Platform for Action" were adopted. The Beijing Declaration demonstrates the determination of the international community in promoting gender equality and enhancing the status of women, whereas the Platform for Action sets out action plans under twelve critical areas of concern. The Conference has made significant contribution to the advancement of the status of women worldwide.
