SHWF tours welfare and health care facilities in Tsuen Wan (with photos)
The Secretary for Health, Welfare and Food, Dr York Chow, today (January 4)
visited welfare and health care facilities in Tsuen Wan district to keep abreast
of the latest developments of the service delivered and to listen to people's
views on further improvements.
At Yan Chai Hospital Dr Chow was briefed by board members on the various
operations there. Views were exchanged over the hospital's redevelopment
programme which is meant to bring forward the hospital��s ambulatory care
services and rehabilitation services to meet demands for more integrated and
comprehensive health care services by the residents in the cluster.
Dr Chow visited Tsuen Wan Wai Hay District Elderly Community Centre and was
given a good grasp of the comprehensive package of support services to the
elders. These programmes are target-oriented to cater for the need of the
ever-growing ageing population in the community. Taking the opportunity of a
singing class for the elderly, Dr Chow shared with the elderly their aspirations
for various recreational activities.
At a sharing session with elderly representatives and elderly services
providers, a more formal exchange of views on matters of concern was sought.
Dr Chow ended his visit by attending a discussion session with Tsuen Wan
District councillors. Matters related to the district��s health, welfare, food
safety and environmental hygiene were on the agenda.
