PSHWF to attend inaugural meeting of Steering Group on Safe Food Supply to HK

The Permanent Secretary for Health, Welfare and Food, Mrs Carrie Yau, left for Beijing this afternoon (May 14) for the inaugural meeting of the Steering Group on Safe Food Supply to Hong Kong to be held tomorrow.

Issues related to refinement of food safety regulatory mechanism, with a view to ensuring food for supply to Hong Kong are safe, will be discussed at the meeting with officials of the State General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine (AQSIQ).

Joining Mrs Yau to Beijing are the Director of Food and Environmental Hygiene, Mr Eddy Chan; the Controller of Centre for Food Safety, Dr Mak Sin-ping; Assistant Director of Centre for Food Safety, Dr Constance Chan; Assistant Director of Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation, Dr Leung Siu-fai; and Principal Assistant Secretary for Health, Welfare and Food, Mr Wallace Lau.

The delegation will return to Hong Kong tomorrow evening (May 15).
