SFH to attend food safety forum

The Secretary for Food and Health, Dr York Chow, will leave for Beijing today (November 25) to attend a High-level International Food Safety Forum on Monday and Tuesday (November 26 and 27).

Jointly organised by the State General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine, the Ministry of Health and the World Health Organisation, the forum will invite senior officials from various countries and international organisations to exchange views and experience in handling food safety issues.

The participants will also discuss ways to strengthen international co-operation in enhancing food safety.

Dr Chow will speak on the second day of the forum about food safety management, outlining the Government's strategy and measures to safeguard food safety in Hong Kong.

He will also take the opportunity to meet the Canadian Minister of Health, Mr Tony Clement, to exchange views on public health issues.

Dr Chow will return to Hong Kong on Tuesday.
