Following is the transcript of remarks by the Chief Executive, Mr C Y Leung, at a media session today (April 10) at the Hospital Authority (HA) Building after inspecting the HA Infectious Disease Centre at Princess Margaret Hospital and the Centre for Health Protection of the Department of Health:

Reporter: Mr Leung, in China, the authorities confirm the new cases every day. So what's your assessment on the situation in China, and also how can you make sure that the new bird flu would not spread ...?

Chief Executive: The Central Government and local governments on the Mainland are very supportive of Hong Kong's efforts. We've been communicating fully. As you know, we sent a delegation to Shanghai to exchange views and experiences with professionals in Shanghai, and we also obtained clinical experiences with them. So we keep full contacts with our counterparts on the Mainland.

Reporter: Mr Leung, are you happy with what you've observed so far? Is there any need to improve ...?

Chief Executive: We are happy. We are in a high state of preparedness, and I have full confidence in the professionalism of our medical professionals. Thank you.
