SFH to visit London and Geneva

The Secretary for Food and Health, Dr Ko Wing-man, will depart for London, the United Kingdom (UK), early tomorrow (May 19) to learn more about the latest healthcare developments as well as authentication services for Chinese medicines there. After visiting London, Dr Ko will attend the 70th World Health Assembly (WHA) of the World Health Organization in Geneva, Switzerland.

In London, Dr Ko will visit a digital health company which is committed to providing accessible and affordable healthcare services by combining clinical expertise with cutting edge artificial intelligence technology. He will also visit the Royal Botanic Gardens at Kew to see the unique scientific collections of plants and fungi from around the world, which can be used to help develop modern authentication methods for traditional Chinese medicines as well as by researchers wanting to confirm the identification of their plants.

Dr Ko will attend the 70th WHA on May 22 (Geneva time) as a member of the People’s Republic of China delegation. He will depart in the morning on the following day and arrive in Hong Kong on May 24.

Dr Ko will be accompanied on the visit by the Permanent Secretary for Food and Health (Health), Mr Patrick Nip, and the Director of Health, Dr Constance Chan.
