SFH to visit Beijing

The Secretary for Food and Health, Professor Sophia Chan, will depart for Beijing tomorrow night (August 16) for a three-day visit to foster closer ties with relevant Mainland authorities in respect of food safety and supply matters.

Professor Chan will meet with officials of the State General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine, the Ministry of Agriculture and the Ministry of Commerce on August 17. She will also attend the welcome banquet of the "Belt and Road" High Level Meeting for Health Cooperation: Towards a Health Silk Road.

On the next day, she will participate in the High Level Meeting in the morning and meet with officials from the Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office of the State Council in the afternoon before returning to Hong Kong.

The Permanent Secretary for Food and Health (Food), Mrs Cherry Tse, and the Director of Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation, Dr Leung Siu-fai, will accompany Professor Chan to pay visits to central ministries.

The Under Secretary for Food and Health, Dr Chui Tak-yi, will be the Acting Secretary for Food and Health during Professor Chan's absence.
