The following is issued on behalf of the Committee on Reduction of Salt and Sugar in Food:

Members of the public are invited to vote online for the Most Liked Award among the poster design merit entries of the Smart Choices for Low-Salt and Low-Sugar Slogan Writing cum Poster Design Competition.

Jointly organised by the Committee on Reduction of Salt and Sugar in Food, the Food and Health Bureau, the Centre for Food Safety of the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department, the Department of Health and the Education Bureau, and supported by the Committee on Home-School Co-operation, the competition aims to promote healthy eating through raising students' awareness of reducing salt and sugar in food and making good use of nutrition labels to reduce dietary intake of salt and sugar.

A total of 357 students from 75 schools took part in the four categories of the Poster Design Competition. Participants were required to express the ideas of reducing dietary intake of salt and sugar or doing so through the good use of nutrition labels.

A champion, a first runner-up, a second runner-up and three merit entries in each category of the Poster Design Competition have been selected by a judging panel for members of the public to vote for online. The entry with the highest number of votes in each category will be awarded the Most Liked Award. The 24 entries have been uploaded to the dedicated website www.lowsaltlowsugar.com/en/index.html. Members of the public are invited to vote for their favourite entry from today (September 18) to noon on October 9 (Monday).

Results of the Slogan Writing cum Poster Design Competition will be announced at Food Safety Day 2017, to be held on October 20. The Award Presentation Ceremony will also be held on the same occasion.
