Overview

Overview

Applicants should read the Standard Conditions of Research Grant in the Guidance Notes - Research Grant Application (PDF file) before submitting research grant applications.

If your application is approved, the Principal Applicant and the Institution are required to sign an Agreement for the Research Fund for the Control of Infectious Diseases/the Health and Health Services Research Fund covering the terms and conditions of the research project. You are strongly advised to read and understand the terms and conditions under which funding is provided in addition to the rights and obligations of the signatories.

Calls for applications will be issued 3 months prior to the closing date. Applicants should comply with the standard forms when submitting grant applications.

On submission to the Research Fund Secretariat, principal applicants will be acknowledged of the receipt of applications within one week via email. All applications will be logged into the database and screened for completeness and eligibility. Research proposals passing the initial screening will be reviewed in two stages, according to pre-set assessment criteria, first by external referees, and second by the Grant Review Board. The Research Council will consider the assessment of the GRB and make funding recommendations to the Food and Health Bureau. Each principal applicant will be informed within 6 months of the closing date whether or not the application has been successful together with the comments and recommendations of the Grant Review Board.
