Funds Health and Health Services Research Fund How to Apply
Submission
Submission Applicants are required
to complete the electronic forms.
Only applications submitted on the standard forms will be processed. Please
refer to the Guidance
Notes (PDF file) and Explanatory
Notes (PDF file) for details. Incomplete applications will not be
processed and may result in withdrawal. The information contained
in the electronic forms will be automatically extracted into the Secretariat
database. It is essential that the electronic forms are completed fully
and accurately and that the format and protected features of the forms
are not changed in any way. Grants are allocated
following a two-tiered peer review comprising a Referee Panel and the
Grant Review Board. Applicants are therefore required to provide an adequate
number of photocopied applications to the Secretariat. Applicants are requested
to provide on anonymised copy of the application (to allow unbiased peer
review). This copy should have all references to the applicants deleted. The application package
should contain. Resubmission If you choose to resubmit
your application, please ensure that your resubmission package contains
the following: Important Note: The grant application should comprise the principal applicant's original work. The previously published work of others must be identified clearly as such by citing appropriate references. The principal applicant may be asked to provide clarification where any overlap between the contents of the submitted grant application and other materials is suspected. Grant applications that reproduce the work of others without appropriate attribution may be withdrawn from funding consideration and the track record of the principal applicant may be affected. The track record will be taken into consideration when considering applications to any of the health research funds administered by the Food and Health Bureau. Ethical
Approval A declaration of ethical approval is required before funding is released for any approved project. Such a declaration should be provided with the other materials at the time of application. Applicants from academic institutions and publicly-funded hospitals are expected to obtain ethical approval from their own institutions. Other applicants may contact the Research Fund Secretariat for a list of acceptable ethics committees. Please note, all research proposals must be examined by a local recognised ethics committee to determine whether or not ethical approval is required. While currently only experiments on vertebrate animals likely to cause pain demand ethical approval, Principal Applicants conducting experiments other than these are required to produce a certificate of exemption from an ethics committee. Self-declaration of exemption from ethical approval is not acceptable.
