< Back

In response to media enquiries, a spokesman for the Health, Welfare and Food Bureau said today (September 14) that it remains the Government's policy to introduce Chinese medicine in the public health sector.

"In the 2001 Policy Objective Booklet, we announced the plan to introduce Chinese medicine into the public health care system, initially in the form of out-patient services. Our plan is to provide Chinese medicine out-patient services in 18 clinics by 2005.

"Action is in hand to prepare for the establishment of Chinese medicine clinics by phases. The first one is expected to commence operation in the first quarter of 2003," The spokesman added.
