Response to media report on fees and charges discussion

In response to media enquiries on a newspaper article today (November 9) which quoted sources to report on the Executive Council's discussion on the restructuring of fees and charges for public health care services, a spokesman for the Health, Welfare and Food Bureau reiterates that the discussion of the Executive Council is confidential.

"Members of the Executive Council are bound by the rule of confidentiality.

"Comments made by the sources quoted in the article purporting the details of discussion in the Executive Council are purely speculative," the spokesman said.
