HWFB responds to media enquires on live chicken imports from the Mainland
In response to media enquiries today (November 3) on the daily live chicken
imports from the Mainland, a spokesman for the Health, Welfare and Food Bureau
gave the following reply:
The Government has maintained a ceiling on the daily imports of live chickens
from the Mainland at 30,000. Under this ceiling, the trade may import chickens
according to market demand and the Government will not intervene in the quantity
of live chickens to be imported daily.
The Government has been closely monitoring the market situation to see if there
is overstocking of live chickens in the retail outlets.
