SFH on import of live poultry

< Back

Following is the transcript of remarks made by the Secretary for Food and Health, Dr Ko Wing-man, after attending the Hospital Authority Convention 2016 today (May 3):

Reporter: Can you tell us about the policy of importing poultry to Hong Kong?

Secretary for Food and Health: Because of the paramount importance of preventing avian influenza from affecting Hong Kong people, we need to maintain stringent control over the import of live poultry. Therefore, Mainland farmers need to fulfil all Hong Kong's control and risk management criteria before they consider resuming the supply of live poultry to Hong Kong.
