Elderly Commission to meet tomorrow

The following is issued on behalf of the Elderly Commission:

The Elderly Commission will hold a meeting tomorrow (Wednesday) to discuss a wide range of issues including the premises-led programme for residential care homes for the elderly; a proposal to phase out residential care homes operating on Certificates of Exemption; structured multi-disciplinary training for carers for the elderly in Hong Kong; and a brief report on the Fourth Global Conference of the International Conference on Ageing held in Montreal, Canada.

The members will also be briefed on the progress reports of housing-related recommendations in the 1998 Elderly Commission Report - "Assessment on Housing and Residential Care Needs of the Elderly and Strategy to Meet the Long-term Needs"; and the recommendations in the Report of the 1994 Ad Hoc Committee on Housing for the Elderly.
