Appointments to the Hospital Authority announced

The Government announced today (Friday) the appointment of two members and the re-appointment of 11 members to the Hospital Authority (HA).

Mr Anthony Wu Ting-yuk and Dr Thomas Wong Kwok-shing are appointed to be members of HA for two years with effect from 1 December 1999.

Mr Anthony Wu Ting-yuk, an experienced accountant, has been active in public services. He is now a member of the Hospital Governing Committee of the Pamela Youde Nethersole Eastern Hospital.

Dr Thomas Wong Kwok-shing is the Associate Head of the Department of Nursing and Health Sciences of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University. He is also a member of the Hong Kong Nursing Council.

The following members have been re-appointed for a period of two years with effect from 1 December 1999:

Mr Stephen Lau Ka-men

Professor Grace Tang Wai-king has been re-appointed from the same date to 28 February 2001, in her capacity as the Dean of Faculty of Medicine of the University of Hong Kong.

The Secretary for Health and Welfare, Dr E K Yeoh, paid tribute to the retiring member, Mr Simon Penney, who was the Chairman of HA's Audit Committee, for his unfailing support and contributions to the Authority in the past years. Mr Penney stepped down from HA on 1 December 1999 due to his other heavy commitments.
