Government welcomes constructive views on health, welfare policy

With regard to the petition from a concern group to meet with the Secretary for Health and Welfare this (January 24) afternoon, a spokesman for the Health and Welfare Bureau said the group had written to the bureau in the past expressing their views on a number of issues.

"In fact, the Secretary for Health and Welfare and officials from the bureau have met with the group and explained to them the Government policies regarding their concerns. And officials from the Social Welfare Department have also been meeting with the group on several occasions, the most recent meeting was held last November and was attended by a District Social Welfare Officer.

"We welcome constructive comments and suggestions and will continue to listen to views from various sectors of the community relating to health and welfare policy," the spokesman stressed.
