Dr Simon Ip (President of RDA and Chairman of the Hong Kong Jockey Club),
Mr Thomas Yeung (Chairman of the RDA),
distinguished guests, ladies and gentlemen,

  1. Good afternoon. It gives me great pleasure to join you all at the Riding for the Disabled Association Cup Luncheon 2017.
  2. Riding is an exciting and healthy sport. It can help enhance muscle strength, co-ordination of limbs and concentration. Riding also builds self-confidence, enhances self-discipline and at the same time provides recreation and sport. It is widely recognised as one of the most effective forms of therapy for the disabled.
  3. I wish to extend my heartfelt gratitude to RDA which is the only NGO in Hong Kong dedicated to providing rehabilitative riding programmes for young people with physical or mental challenges. The Association provides 4500 rides annually. RDA is also committed to nurturing talented riders to compete at international races and at the three consecutive Paralympics beginning in 2008. The Association has made tremendous and solid contributions to promoting disabled sports since its establishment in 1975.
  4. With the generous support of the Hong Kong Jockey Club as well as other charitable individuals and organisations, I am certain that RDA would continue to provide quality riding programmes to benefit more and more people. Standing here today, I would like to call on your staunch and continuous support to RDA in helping the disabled to regain self-confidence and realise their potential.
  5. I wish to give my special thanks to all members, instructors, volunteers and sponsors of RDA. Your source of support has been and continues to be a major source of inspiration to our people with physical and mental challenges. I would also like to send my best regards to all riders and their families. May all of you live a healthy and fruitful life. Finally, I wish the event a great success and all of our guests an enjoyable afternoon. Thank you.
