Transcript of SFH's remarks

< Back

Following is the transcript of the remarks (English portion) made by the Secretary for Food and Health, Dr York Chow, at a media session at Tuen Mun Hospital today (September 1):

Reporter: Can you tell us how is Jason Leung now?

Secretary for Food and Health: At the moment he is in a stable state but I think he is heavily sedated. His fever has come down, his chest infection and various infections are under control. So in a way he is in a stable state. But as you know that he had a very serious injury and it is very difficult to predict the outcome at this moment. But whatever happens, he is going to face a very long and strenuous rehabilitation period. We are trying our very best to ensure that he has the best treatment and the best environment for rehabilitation.

Reporter: Will the Government provide any further support to his family?

Secretary for Food and Health: We have enquired with Mrs Leung about anything that she needs and of course there are some arrangements regarding what she needs to do and we will try our best to help them.

Reporter: How is Mrs Leung right now?

Secretary for Food and Health: She is very calm and rational. She is taking it in stride and she shows us that she has very strong courage and is a very strong person. Of course she still needs a lot of support, I believe, from all of us and I hope that everybody can give her support.
