SFH on German eggs

Following is the transcript of remarks (English portion) made by the Secretary for Food and Health, Dr York Chow, on German eggs, at a stand-up media session at the Legislative Council Building today (January 10):

Reporter: Do you think you should put an advice to people not to eat German eggs for the time being or an import ban on German eggs for the time being?

Secretary for Food and Health: There is no advice from the European Commission regarding the banning of any sales of eggs or poultry or any other type of meat so far. But we are in close contact with relevant authorities in Europe as well as in Germany to see what type of advice should be given to the public. We will follow up on this very closely. The Centre for Food Safety is investigating and analysing all the data available so far, and they will be able to give an account this afternoon to the media.
