Outpatient Clinics

The Outpatient (OP) clinics of the Chinese medicine hospital (CMH) consist of the following components:

(1) General Outpatient Clinic (GOPC) which accepts patient self-referral cases mainly through appointment;
(2) Referral Outpatient Clinic (ROPC) which accepts referrals from GOPC of the CMH, 18 Chinese Medicine Clinics cum Training and Research Centres, partnering organisations, Chinese medicine (CM) practitioners, western medicine doctors and professional healthcare providers;
(3) Special Disease Centre which provides services covering selected diseases with clinical strengths in CM and local medical needs. Patients can attend the centre by referral or self-referral through appointment; and
(4) Private Clinic which is served by prestige CM practitioners. Patients can attend this clinic by referral or self-referral through appointment.

The CMH will have 70 consultation rooms comprising the following:

(1) 10 rooms in GOPC
(2) 24 rooms in ROPC
(3) 28 rooms in Special Disease Centre
(4) 8 rooms in Private Clinic

Consultation and Interventions

The following CM specialised services will be provided in the CMH:

(1) Internal Medicine in CM (中醫內科)
(2) External Medicine in CM (中醫外科)
(3) Gynecology in CM (中醫婦科)
(4) Paediatrics in CM (中醫兒科)
(5) Orthopedics and Traumatology in CM (中醫骨傷科)
(6) Acupuncture and Moxibustion in CM (中醫針灸科)

To formulate an optimal treatment plan, CM practitioner would consider the overall condition of patient to choose or combine different CM treatments, including prescription of Chinese medicines (中藥) and provision of other interventional measures. Interventional measures to be provided in the OP setting will include the following:

(1) Acupuncture (針刺)
(2) Moxibustion (艾灸)
(3) Cupping (拔罐)
(4) Tui-na (推拿) and bone-setting (正骨)

Necessary CM instruments for practising comprehensive CM treatment will be provided in all 45 intervention rooms of the CMH. Other more sophisticated interventions such as fumigation (薰蒸) and bathe (浸浴) may be provided in wards.
